The Conversation Club is back! We are starting this term sessions on Thursday, when we will be talking about dream jobs. We know that some occupations require a degree certificate and others don't. Some of them demand specific skills while others are easy to carry out or just depend on creativity. All jobs have different features that may make them more appealing according to your interests. Is there a perfect job for each person? Is money the only issue to take into account when considering the best job?
I am a lucky person because I really love what I do, I have been a teacher of English language for about ten years and it is a rewarding job in many ways. For example, it offers me the chance to meet people of different ages and backgrounds, students and professionals with diverse goals and somehow I feel I am helping them to reach those aims by providing them the tools, strategies and skills to master a second language. In addition to this, my job is never boring because we get to cover all kind of topics including culture, history, sports, food, finance, among many others. We can teach by using various activities such as role-plays, games, tongue twisters, karaoke or more serious stuff like debates, essay writing, presentations, etc.
Moreover, I am always learning through and for my job. As a teacher you get multiple abilities as well as features from other professional fields. Furthermore, I also get to share ideas, projects and tasks with colleagues and at the same time teaching allows me to be autonomous in the strategies to be used on my lessons. There are many other reasons why being a professor is my dream job.
Jobs should be a wonderful experience where you have lots of fun, you feel you are helpful for the community, and money is not the main reason to do it. A dream job should not be a burden for you, on the contrary, it should be one of the most pleasant activities for you. What's your dream job? What features does it involve? We will be having a debate about dream jobs. Don't miss it!
